Economy, you have 9 months to get your shit together...

$120,000 for bachelor’s degrees that are only pragmatic steps to other degrees. Sorry Dad, I should have been less ambitious.

Side bar: Watching the news while studying for the LSAT is just the worst thing any individual could subject themselves to right now. Oh HELLO, StumbleUpon…we will be good friends for the next half hour.

WAIT A SECOND...

(^ That is a link to a blood-boiling article)

When I began my freshman year at college, tuition cost me $8,775.00 a year plus another $13,000-$14,000 on housing and books
Senior year tuition will cost me $13,970.00. Do I qualify for any kind of financial aid? NOPE. Have I ever? NOPE. I am middle-class America, the daughter of a combined income that is too high for financial aid and too low for “Hey darling, just deposited $10,000 to your account for the quarter. Dad says hello” ..or “I’m a studio art major.” (I’m not a studio art major, so relax).
If UC Regents pulls another incremental increase on us (16% every year!?!), students expected to graduate in 2016 will pay a little over $22,000 in tuition alone. I will be long gone, absorbing the scathing costs of grad school by then, but still! Over $40,000 for a public school education?!?

I just deleted a paragraph-long rant that eventually labeled me as a capitalist, because I don’t qualify for grants that my parents contribute tax dollars to.. When my children turn 18, I’ll be sure to suddenly become financially disadvantaged. #bitter
